ASSIGNMENT #2
Assignment
#2 is another developmental step toward your final business plan and requires
you to develop the market analysis and marketing plan for your business. This will correspond to the templates for
sections 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0 on my website.
Market
Analysis Should demonstrate that you know/understand the market conditions
surrounding your business, provide evidence of research, discuss
customer/client profile details, and discuss primary and secondary target
markets. With respect to your target
markets, you should be able to explain why they are your target markets, and at
a minimum have some statistics on how many customers/clients exist in your
market area. You should also discuss
your competition and the competitive pressures (Porters 5 Forces) for your
business.
Marketing
Plan Should describe how you plan to reach your target markets. Focus on the promotion portion of the 4 Ps
(product, price, promotion, place). Keep
in mind that your promotion should match the identified target markets from
your market analysis.
Please review the sample plans online and information
in your textbook particularly Chapter 8.
Each student/team should submit only one copy of Assignment #2 to me. Assignment #2 is due at the beginning of class on the due date.
In addition, each student/team must prepare a PowerPoint presentation of the assignment which you will present in class. Presentations will also occur on March 15. You must also turn in a hard copy of your slides on that date (even if you do not present that day).
PLEASE NOTE: I will only give you 6 minutes to present your market analysis and marketing plan. I will stop you after 6 minutes so if you do not finish your presentation you will take a deduction in your grade. The purpose is to help you pick out the key information and practice presenting critical information. Be sure that you have an introduction slide that gives the company name and your name (group member names) and also be sure to clearly explain what your business does at the beginning of your presentation.
IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN THE SLIDES OR YOUR WRITTEN
ASSIGNMENT AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS YOU WILL TAKE A DEDUCTION. NOTE: I
DO NOT ACCEPT THE EXCUSE THAT YOUR
The written assignment is worth 5 percent of your
final grade and the presentation is worth 5 percent of your final grade. Your grade will be determined by the clarity
and organization of your written assignment as well as your ability to
communicate and defend your market analysis and marketing plan. In addition, you will be graded on the quality
and level of analysis and whether the elements of your marketing plan make
sense.
